If the will of colonies wanted to be there own country and want to govern themselves, sure it is important. The issue with the taxes was not that they didn't want to pay taxes, but had no representation when Britain implemented the taxes upon the colonies. Hence the saying, " No taxation without representation".

And you think that justifies starting a war?

Imagine what the world would be like if you applied this logic to individual behavior. Because you wan't something than you have the right to violently take it?

Did the colonist's have reasons to be upset with the British empire, yes they did. Was their only recourse violent revolution, I would say not.

The South wanted to keep their slaves and they also felt they weren't being represented by their government. Does that give them the right to start a war?

Violence is only EVER acceptable if it is being used to stop violence.

I would rather Apple do iPhone5 right then be pressured to release it at the typical release cycle.

Give me 4" screen, NFC, dual core A9 and a gig of ram. LTE is not a huge deal since it will probably not be deployed widespread.

If they build it from scratch, they could probably design the place with working conditions that don't make people as suicidal (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1104449&referrerid=51132).

Oh please... not this again!

So by that logic. You agree with the enforcement of a No Fly zone in Libya.

Yes I do. Just as I wouldn't stand idle if an individual near me were being mugged/robbed/attacked/raped, I do not feel my country should stand idle if innocent lives are at risk and it is in our power to save them.

A child does not naturally grow up to be socially responsible or kind. They naturally grow up to be self-centered and violent unless a parent or authority teaches them otherwise.

As negative as I think religion can be, it has set a code of conduct for people that enables cooperation and empathy for others. Although we don't need religion to teach people morals, we need some agreed upon code of conduct.

You might say that the laws of a country serve that purpose, but they don't. They are simply rules everyone must follow and any despotic ruler can set awful laws that can hurt people. Therefore, the code of conduct has to be separate from the law.

If atheism has any future, its needs some type of unified, agreed upon code.

Religion doesn't have an agreed upon code of conduct. Morals don't stem from religion! People use their morals to pick the best bits of religion to act on. Morals are actually much deeper than that- some other primates have been shown to exhibit different levels of morality.

Well, I certainly have a "problem" with the notion that a publicly funded military needs to be maintained in order to protect privately owned enterprises, who by their own free will have set up operations in foreign countries, often at the expense of American jobs.

    Amen.

And no matter how mighty our military, it seems irrelevant when the commercial interests are in stable, sovereign nations. In unstable nations, we really have no business injecting our military on account of this notion, unless part of a larger peacekeeping force.*

*Please note that I am suggesting that the peacekeeping force should require our participation as an equal member of a team - the peacekeeping force should not be an afterthought solely used for validating an American military action.

They make all of Nikons sensors, even the high end D3S and D3X dSLRs ones. They also made (or make?) Canon point and shoot sensors; at least as of a few years ago. Sony was one of the first with backlit CMOS as well.

Oh, and I think Pentax, if you want to consider them a camera compay, uses Sony sensors.

The high-end Nikon sensors are not Sony's.

"While it's widely known that Nikon uses sensors principally designed by Sony in many of its digital SLRs, the D3/D700 sensor is an original Nikon design that is manufactured not by Nikon but by an unspecified sensor fabricator. Prior to the D3, the only other digital SLR models to also feature a sensor created by Nikon were the D2H and D2Hs, and as with those models, Nikon isn't revealing their manufacturing partner for the new sensor. It has a pixel pitch of 8.45m and utilizes 12-channel readout."

How would the built-in tuner make the iPod worse? Don't want to use it? Then don't.Except I would have to pay for the parts and the R&D...

And the iPod would have to be (slightly) bigger to accommodate the extra features... Now, maybe not much for a FM/AM radio, but then what about digital radio...? Or Satellite...? Many places old analogue radio is on its way out... Which radio standards should be supported...?

It's retarded. Wal-Mart won't lose any substantial sum of money if iTunes carries movies from all the major houses. But they will lose tons if they stop selling DVDs.

I don't think Wal-Mart makes money on a lot of their DVDs. They sell them at a loss to get people in their stores. If people buy on iTunes, they don't come into Wal-Mart.

If it's just an upgrade for the 5G iPod, I m gonna be disappointed......at myself. I was holding off to replace my aging 3G iPod, and was gonna wait till 6G (full screen). But if it's just about a larger harddrive, i really could have bought the current one loooong time ago.

I'm waiting right there with you. My poor 3G ipod's battery doesn't last very long at all anymore, but I'm not buying a 5.1G ipod just so i can buy a full video ipod later next year. I will continue to wait.

Couldn't all Facebook apps also be approved by default, and only be given access to a user's personal information by explicit consent of that user?

Like the world has done such a bang up job of being trustworthy, lol. Apple has to do what they believe they have to do to survive and thrive. They haven't done it by the conventional/popular ways of thinking. I never said that Apple is perfect or that their approval process is just right. But it is what it is. People aren't all trustworthy, that's probably a reason why they clamp down (whether right or wrong in certain instances) on app approval.

Doesn't matter. I think the script they were using was broken anyway. I tried to enter my affected serial number a bunch of ways and it wouldn't accept it. My guess is that they took the site down to fix the issue.

Or it could be because the story hit the front page of Digg :)

    -Mike

Yea, the page is probably digg****ed as well as being destroyed by MacRumors, AppleInsider, Engadget, TUAW, Think Secret, Slashdot, etc.
