^ Uhm. Popularity does not imply quality.
Neither does obscurity. However, success in the music industry is generally measured by how many people like a musician's work. Ask any musician whether they'd rather create music that appeals to 4 people, or 40,000,000 people. Your individual lack of appreciation of The Beatles doesn't diminish their success, collectively and individually. To discount their accomplishments and influence is to display monumental naivet.
+1
The Beatles have stood the test of time, which is my personal measure of artistic success.
I wonder if anyone payed 1.29 for revolution number nine.
laughed so hard when I read this XD

I guess if her main criteria for car choice is killing people in small cars then she has picked the right car.
cars are overrated. live where you work/socialize.

Though the App Store would probably be much better for fighting piracy.
Yeah, I'm sure the no-serial, no-DRM app store is a great approach for fighting piracy.
Wanna know what's best for fighting piracy? Good pricing, and they're doing that.

Cost aside for the moment, it's Microsoft's decision to sell such a bewildering number of versions that I find so remarkable. I think it says a lot about Microsoft that they can't seem to settle on one implementation of Windows that would suit all users equally well. Apple has seen to it that the Mac is a Mac. Windows is now like a half-dozen vaguely different things, depending. Another level of confusion, introduced deliberately.

oh my... will the nano do ebooks?
Dear God! i hope not! That would practically be an exercise in utter futility!
Good thing my upgrade cycle is coming along... Hmmmm... wait for the 4 core Conroe or not... :D
This large screen iPod (Newton 2? ;-) has potential to become many many things... Interesting times we live in.

Please don't tell me that anyone that actually needs the CS apps can't plunk down $450-$1000 for the EDU version, but will shell out $3000 for an overpriced Mac Pro?
Students pay either less (edu-discount-not just in the U.S.) for their Mac, buy a refurbished model or buy a used Mac from the previous owner. In the best case, this reduces the price of a previous generation Mac to one third or even to 25 percent of the original price.
And who says, students are rich? You, or what!? *lol*

I never advocate piracy, but this just encourages some folks to do it. Meanwhile they are rolling in profits. Disgusting. Overreaching. Greed.
About sums it up for me...
The very world/country you live in is build on greed, theft, slavery...and here's something new for you but your probably supporting it every day. But hey whatever you do make sure not to download anything you haven't payed for
Screw it i pay a monthly bill that allows me access to the internets...so in my twisted mind i believe that since i payed for the internets, everything that is downloadable is legit :D

My iBook qualifies and I just went through the process. Website says Apple will send a new battery, then I have to send the old one back. My old one is doing just fine, does anyone know what will happen if I don't send it back? I'd rather have two good batteries, even if one may explode (1 in a million chance).

Sometimes the stores that someone wouldn't suspect (or ever shop out) of having something are the ones that those "in the know" can find something.
Just before Christmas I figured my son and daughter were old enough for our first XBox 360. I went to the 4 Best Buys close to my house (Gilbert, AZ) and all pretty much laughed at me, out of stock. I called a guy that I know from a club I'm in that managed a local Walmart. He said of his stock of 12 that he got in the prior week he had only sold 1. Apparently in my town no one shops at Walmart for an Xbox? All I know is I drove down there and sure enough they had a small pile of them with hardly anyone in the electronics department.

Whats the point in the 8 gig when you can get so much more capacity for only 20 more?!
Seems fairly bizarre really, you'd have to really like little black things to bother surely!
anyone getting one care to explain your rationale?
This is very simple to answer.
I want a solid state player that is small and lightweight and don't need the larger capacity of the regular iPod, nor do I want to lug around such a huge iPod -- relatively speaking.

I like the frozen mud spray in this. framing is a bit off because that red on the left is a flag, annoying. Oh, and it's soft too, so technically a pretty bad picture I suppose, but I still like it :) Reminds me of days as a kid in the park playing football and sliding 10m on a tackle.

I vehemently disagree with the way Bungie ups the "Difficulty" in this game.
Totally agree. I breezed through the heroic setting but now in legendary its taking me three times as long to get where I am. I've found that in the legendary mode you pretty much have to rely on the armor options just to get through certain sections. One great thing I realized the other day is that the drop shield power up or whatever its called also restores your health which is awsome.
It is rediculous how hard it is to kill elites. If you stick a grenade to their backs it doesn't even break their shields! What the hell is that? A couple of plasma rifle shots and kick to the chest will pretty much kill me everytime. Either way I like the challenge so I'm going to keep plugging along.

No, I think this is an ideal time and place to deal with this issue. If we are discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the christian bible, this is one of the biggest.
I hear what you are saying, but again I would disagree. Though I'm not sure you intend to do so, the argument you have presented comes across as if all believers in the Bible ascribe to a theology of works. Though some denominations might function in this manner, it is not consistent with the primary message of the Bible which is that we are saved by grace through faith based on the sacrifice of Christ.
The concept of moral neutrality or clean slate at birth, is a long debated issue and you are correct in saying that the Bible teaches the doctrine of original sin. Based on scripture I personally believe that while man is definitely capable of "good" due to the fact that he has been created in the image of God, that image has been marred by sin. This leaves man in a "broken" condition and at the core we are selfish by nature.
Please hear what I'm saying, because as you correctly point out this can be a very confusing process, especially in a post modern world that espouses situational ethics and moral relativity. I believe in absolute truth, truth that exists outside of my perspective and is applicable regardless of how I "feel" about it.
An accurate understanding of original sin does not mean that man is completely "evil" in the sense that we are incapable of doing works that would be considered "good" or altruistic. The human spirit is capable of many good things, but without an accurate understanding of who God is and our relationship to him these good works become nothing but acts of vanity and self glorification that serve only to advance pride and promote self-reliance.
Like many of the things we have discussed in this thread I fully understand that this will hinge upon that impasse of faith that many can't get over.

Nice, thank you :). I liked Coverflow's application, glad they incorporated it. To be honest, though, I thought it looked better as the previous app . . . .
