Let see the fanboys defend this:
Rogue Amoeba has said they will no longer develop iPhone apps and will concentrate on the Mac. It had taken three months for Apple to release a bug fix. Does Rogue Amoeba suck too?

I would say for laptops Apple is up in the top three for the best built and what not. For desk tops... ALL companies suck. The best ones are the ones you build yourself. Handsdown.
Windows or mac. I use windows. I don't really care to much. It runs my programs and thats the only thing that matters. I don't use most of their installed programs because they suck. I use chrome as my webbrowser, VLC to play videos, iTunes for music (the halo effect. I got when I had my Ipod. Sold my iPod for School books. got a new computer and realized it was the fifth program i installed.) Open office for documents. I basically own windows for the basic ability to interact with my hardware. Other then that I don't need it.
I do have Mac os on it, but most of the drivers don't work and i am to lazy/don't care to get ones that work for my hardware. I would love to see apple allow people to run OEM mac OS.

Honestly? I think the ENTIRE desktop line (iMac, Mac Mini, etc.) would probably get this before a laptop would get it. :(
And P.S. - Apple, your laptop line is already to expensive. Don't release a consumer product that only rich companies can buy. :(

man i wish 3D would just disappear...
soon it will disappear... there was the 3D spike back then than it disappeared and came back like what 2 years ago?
and this is the worst rumor ever! Apple will never do this gimmick!

I agree that this would be cool, but what would make it even better is enhanced iSync or other capability for third parties to take advantage and make content available. I suppose the iTMS could handle it, but the user should be able to load whatever he or she wants on it, I would think.
well as long as it can be imported into iTunes then its all good.

If you try going to:
www.apple.com/movies
it gives you a page that says:

You don't have permission to access /movies on this server.
Does this mean anything?

Anyone tell me what good is a 64-bit processor other than being able to address more RAM. I know a 64-bit address bus alone doesn't make a 64-bit processor.
I also heard these are not "true" 64-bit processors, just the same old x86 processors w/ 64-bitty goodness added on. Any truth to this?

I actually found myself on the Halo Wiki the other day reading about the Halo universe. Then about 10 minuets in I realized how lame it was and I stopped. Dont get me wrong I love me some Halo but if its outside the game, eh...

You morons, it's probably because of people like you that the PROPER serial numbers stopped working. Just typing crap in cause you want a free battery (or even changing your number so other people's stop working). I hope Apple catches on to you and charges you when you get your battery and they don't get the one that you entered the serial number in for.
BTW, to everyone who is just finding out and going to attempt calling, don't bother tonight. I have tried calling 5 times and each time the automated system hangs up on me because they can't take my call. One time the system was even slowed down, presumably from the large number of calls (it took about 30 seconds to say "Hello" and then there was a minute long pause before it said anything else).

Staying away from the traditional rangefinder lens deign did not make the lens thinner, it just allowed the extra room to clear out the mirror swing but the les had to get bigger and protrude more. It is like saying "no need to make the phone thicker, just make the lens stck out!" which obviously isn't really an attractive solution - it was done one a few years ago and didn't fare all that well.
I wasn't proposing the same solution, merely an observation on the statement:
"You are limited by the focal length, which is dictated by the thickness of the device. There is no magic way around this."
For example: with the various adapters to use 35mm lenses on 4/3rds format some include elements to accommodate different registration distances.
i.e. you're neither limited by the focal length; nor is the focal length dictated by the device. Is that not so? Could you not employ a nice aspherical positive element to take advantage of a larger sensor without "just making the lens stick out"? (ref his original link to DPReview article on Focal Length).

Lets hope they remaster them - the stereo effects on the original versions can be really painful on a pair of headphones.
Apple Corps did say (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000103&sid=aFXMHi1sm_p8&refer=us) that the Beatles tracks would be cleaned up before download releases were made.
The cheesy stereo on some of the early tracks may seem odd to current-day listeners, but on the other hand, mashup hobbyists must love it :)

So now Brazil is the one having "aggressive mercantilist policies"?
Why don't you talk about the US's egregiously illegal subsidies to its orange juice, steel and ethanol industries against Brazilian imports of the same products?
In case you don't know about them, just check WTO's website to see the rulings AND appeals that the US has continuously lost against Brazil. Or is it nice to have "free markets" only when you benefit from them?
It's true-- the policy on ethanol, especially, is bad for US consumers. We are subsidizing US corn farmers to product ethanol that ends up using more petroleum to create than is saved in the resulting gasohol. Meanwhile, import controls are keeping out the (actually efficient) ethanol produced in Brazil. At the same time, food prices are rising all over the world due to shortages that could be alleviated if all that US corn became food, rather than fuel. Ethanol in the US has become nothing but an industrial subsidy for agrobiz. Our taxes our subsidizing a tragedy.

I replied with "so you never charge" to say that even with wireless syncing one will have to charge iDevice at some point (matter of days if it's an iPhone, maybe a week if it's an iPod - both in use not just on a shelf). Why drain battery by syncing when you can charge batter while syncing and with wireless sync that can be done by induction charging which is slow and charger is costly ergo makes little sense. I'm all for wireless sync in addition to current wired method though. One more option is good.
OP was hoping to be freed from being tied to one iTunes, this has nothing to do with when you charge your device.. of course it still has to be charged.
I'll quote what I said again for you....
so i can sync over wifi, which is going to be slow as hell, and i still have to keep my device on a charging pad or in a dock? Why wouldn't i just plug it into the damn computer to speed up the process?
wireless charging/sync is stupid, time consuming, battery wasting, gimmick.

So far, you've added nothing but focusing on the messenger. Which is typical, if knowledge about the topic of discussion is superficial at best.
Referring to Paul McCartney as a musical infant when there aren't more than a handful of songwriters in the 20th century who had a better knack for melody is just absurd.

Its something to do with apple TV's upgrade. I am guessing it will be totally wireless in terms of being able to buy content from the box itself. ala iPhone music store. That coupled with affordable and vast library of movie rentals.
Also re-designed MBP. There;s definitely something cool coming!!

Anyone else notice that the low end iMac (1.83 Ghz) now has the 950 chipset for a graphics card?
That's just a Core 2 Duo updated version of the iMac that replaced the eMac earlier this year. It was initially only for sale to educational institutions.

You have to love small towns. I spent about an hour and a half in one Saturday morning getting my taxes done, so I pulled out the camera while I was waiting. I have a few keepers (by my standards of course, which are pretty low) to show over the next few days.

After reading this article (http://gizmodo.com/343246/what-to-expect-at-macworld-2008-and-why-we-think-it-will-bigger-than-usual) I think that it's entirely possible that Apple are altering their branding. Also the lack of an Apple logo could be explained by the fact that everyone at the expo would recognise it as them anyway and it adds to the air of secrecy and mystery that they love to use in their marketing.
oh yes, absolutely no sign of an Apple logo here....
