It was all smooth sailing til tonight and my Macbook had a random shut down. I've had the firmware upgrade since the day it came out. I noticed this time I couldn't just try to power back up by pressing the power button. I had to either take out the battery and put it back in or plug it up to external power for atleast the start up.

Bleh, I was so relived that I wouldn't have to send it in with the firmware thingy, so much for that. :(

So everyone elses are doing fine?

They ADDED a screw?? I mean, they drilled a new hole in the casing???

That seems like a crazy repair job if ever I've heard one.

Yeap, they drilled a hole in the center of the macbook and added a screw.

The light cut of the Myriad font is probably used to indicate thin/light weight - as is the reference to air. I suspect that it's about the sub-notebook, which will be thinner than anything else on the market.

    Other possibilities:

    1. Inflight entertainment system - Dock connectors in every seat. iTunes/iPhone style touch interface in seatback displays - deal with American Airlines/British Airways/One World Alliance.

    2. "Cloud" services - something big like making .Mac free and re-branding it to attract PC / iTunes / iPhone users

is anyone else having a problem validating thier battery? mine falls within the 6c rance and its saying its not eligible

Yeah, my A1078 battery from my 15" PB with serial 3K509 clearly lies in the problematic range (3K425 - 3K601) but is not being accepted by the web application... I'm gonna call Apple support tomorrow instead cause it looks like a buggy web app to me.

    WWDC 2003: PowerMac G5, iLife.

WWDC 2004: 23 and 30 inch cinema displays, iTunes 4.9

    WWDC 2006: Mac Pro

    WWDC 2008: iPhone 3G

WWDC 2009: iPhone 3GS, 13 inch MacBook Pro, and bumps to the 15/17 Pros.

    WWDC 2010: iPhone 4

There is a lot of precedent for hardware and software announcements at WWDC, including a lot of stuff that doesn't directly impact developers. It's a big media event, and Apple saves on throwing two events close together in the summer by announcing things at WWDC.

Yes, its the hardware that keeps the developers in business. WWDC should not be exclusively about software and even Apple agrees judging from the list above.

Maybe they will feature the Macbook Air Revision this year ;)

I have a battery that seems to be on the recall list, I have a PB G4 - Model No. A1148 - Serial No. 3K542...A. But it says that the serial number is invalid. I did try to see if I could switch the last part of the number which is an "A" to "B" or "C" and while it did not take "B", it did take "C" as a valid serial number. I have had my battery for 10 months and it has worked fine and charges up to 100% with no problem and I have had no heating issues to date.

Anyway, I don't know what's up with their site. Just thought I'd contribute my two cents.

Not one mention of the STUDIOS in this thread? Ever think that maybe they leaked/exagerated this news to take the attention off of themselves?

Oh no, big bad Wal-Mart won't let us do it...

No arguement what Wal-Mart is doing should be illegal. There is so much that goes against many laws that they somehow weasel their way around it's frightening. That said they aren't the only one nor are the ultimate problem in video distribution.

The studios are stepping over dollars to save pennies. They've put a stangle hold on content claiming to protect the artists... Look at iTunes. Even some of the most ardent opponents have now let their music be distributed that way. In the mean time they only hurt themselves.

I can't imagine that too many studios will sit back and watch Disney dominate the iTunes scene. No matter what Wal-Mart says. There is a perfectly good market for HD growing that I don't see online downloads taking over any time soon. Even with DSL I can't imagine waiting for 50GB to download...

^^^ Awesome for 6400 ISO! Looking forward to more shots from Sat. if you have them. :)

Thanks so much! Yea, I'm very impressed by the high ISO, although I think the snow might be helping it blend a bit.

I wish I spent more time consciously framing shots, and waiting for the right moment to snap pictures. This photo I think would have been much better if I waited for those two boys to leave the frame, and if I didn't cut her legs off.

When there is a big bug that sneaks into the application but isn't caught before the release of the app. You discover it after several people complain (and several in FB terms is probably thousands) but you can fix the problem in an hour. But then you need to wait 2-3 weeks for the application to be approved by apple. In the mean time you can't do jack **** because the app store is completely controlled by Apple.

Somehow this logic only makes me think that 'complete control' by Apple is a good thing. Something with as many users as FB warrants thorough testing prior to springing it on unsuspecting users. Just because of open source and 'free testing services' provided by the general public (ala Vista) doesn't really justify a lack of internal QA.

I guess now that Apple helped break down the practices of the carriers totally controlling and locking down crippled phones they suddenly are the bad guy.

Not saying their process is perfect, and I think some 'drama' around it will help it evolve - but - the fact that many developers don't bother to test their apps is one part of why the approval process exists.

Forgive me if this isn't new, but I just noticed that you can order the BT keyboard and mighty mouse as a package for $60 ($54 edu discount). Given that the BT MM alone is $69, this is a great deal.

But you don't get the wired keyboard/mouse if you do that. In other words, the $60 is really more like $100 with a $40 credit for the wired kb/mouse.

    The New York Post.....hahaha

Only a bunch of idiotic liberals would believe anything that comes out of that rag.:D

No, the New York Times, under the idiotic and bumbling leadership of Pinchy Sulzberger, is the leading liberal rag. The Post is the Neo-con rag of Rupert Murdoch, you know, Fox News.

Some of you people amaze me. It's time to STEP AWAY from the koolaid and look at this from a broad perspective.

Oh that's right, you're in bed with Steve. *sighs*. Some people will seriously never learn.

Please remember this folks (especially the EXTREME Apple Fanboy): Apple is a company that is looking to make money. That's it.

Ultimately, this is bad for us as iPhone users. Bad for the future of software as a whole.

Well it's gotten so bad that the ipods now need an ipod app button! what happened!? i don't even like ios to begin with. and who are you to laugh at this? I'm not going back to threads from 4 years ago to satisfy your laughter thank you. leave the damn apps for the phones or the ipads. I can say im laughing at all the people talking about how "horrible" the click wheel is to use but i don't, i could laugh at all the ppl with the out with the old and in with the new personality but i don't. Capacity is priority and i LOVE the click wheel alright? sorry for quoting you directly but it was me who said that they should leave the gadget business but you seem to have forgotten i meant this for the iPod lineup. i mean look at what the nano has become. a little square. i hate it. it looks like it could be an iWatch.

no, no. i can see how having an music player that doubles as a portable alarm clock and something to play tetris on in the doctor's office would be terrible. also, if tapping an orange square is really too much for you, there's always the option of leaving the ipod app open all the time.

at the risk of sparking another tirade, you kind of sound just as short-sighted as you were a decade ago. i mean, you can't really make an imperial argument that apple's shift to touch-screen ipods was a bad idea, because they sell like guinness on st. patrick's day. i truly am sorry that the "evolution of tech" has left you behind though, that must be terrible for you.

I doubt it since this is the World Wide DEVELOPERS Conference...I wouldnt classify an imac as a developmental machine.

Although they did give all the developers who 'rented' the 'Intel Development Kit' from WWDC '05 a Intel iMac when they were released in January. ;)

Also, kids, this is what we should be discussing:

If the will of colonies wanted to be there own country and want to govern themselves, sure it is important. The issue with the taxes was not that they didn't want to pay taxes, but had no representation when Britain implemented the taxes upon the colonies. Hence the saying, " No taxation without representation".

And you think that justifies starting a war?

Imagine what the world would be like if you applied this logic to individual behavior. Because you wan't something than you have the right to violently take it?

Did the colonist's have reasons to be upset with the British empire, yes they did. Was their only recourse violent revolution, I would say not.

The South wanted to keep their slaves and they also felt they weren't being represented by their government. Does that give them the right to start a war?

Violence is only EVER acceptable if it is being used to stop violence.
