In general, the staff at most retail and restaurant chains are taught to notify the authorities and not get involved. Violating this policy can and will get you fired at best, or killed at worst.

And at what point in American society did helping a fellow human being in distress become less important that making 5 bucks an hour slinging burgers.

Seriously, if McD's fires you for doing the right thing I'm sure there is a BK nearby you can apply at.

IMHO the bystanders in this situation are just as guilty. Maybe Seinfield was onto something all those years ago.

Just updatedNow having a problem with people hearing me. If i use speaker phone they can hear me just fine. I have done a voice memo, and it sounds like I'm being recorded at half volume. Anyone else having this problem
Just had my 16 GB iPhone 4 replaced for that same problem. Haven't upgraded yet (well I haven't even picked up the exchange unit from the store yet...)

Amazon's store doesn't bog you down with movies and games and whatnot. You go to the MP3 section and 99% of what is advertised is music, both the music you searched and others you might like.

iTunes has gotten more irritating in that regard in recent years. You click on store half the time just wanting to do a search for a song or something you're looking for and you get this MEGA LAG due to the fact iTunes wants to load up a catalog page containing about a thousand items on it with fade-through album covers, animation, etc. to try and catch your eye to sell you stuff you don't want to buy. The problem is even with a 10mbps connection, it still loads slow (at least on my older Macs and you get that lag trying to click on the darn search box which won't respond because it's far too busy loading advertisements). That sucks IMO.

You can get iTunes to move songs over to USB drives, etc. (select songs or lists and just drag it to the drive in the finder), but there's always been this bug if you move too many songs, it won't work (not sure where the exact number is, but I've run into it many times on an 8GB USB thumb drive for my car). Plus on Macs, OSX insists on copying the .files over with the songs which most car players choke on (so I use my Windows machine to do all this instead of my OSX server). Apple couldn't care less about either because in their eyes, you should be using an iPod...even for the car. Anything else is heresy and you deserve what you get. But they won't support Linux with iTunes because those people are crazy and probably wouldn't buy stuff anyway (free information et al).

You should've set a Stop Loss at 180 and now be very happy with a new buying opportunity. I actually used this fiasko for the high risk maneuver of buying base 180 Calls for Apple

Or better still, just play a squeeze right before MWSF (buy puts and calls, with the idea being that there will be enough movement in one direction to cover your loss on one of the options, while still pulling a profit on the other).

I want to own the strip club.

And didn't you see how upset and disoriented I was by your death? I lost all track of time.

The would be the best narrative EVER.
MRVille is brothel, and 2 girls have stds.
The seer is a health department screener.
The hunter is a condom distributor.
It might have to go to the PRSI, though.

You know, considering that the other countries are getting it in a little over a week, I think the chances of getting on in a store are pretty slim. It sounds like stores are only getting a handful of models, and for the past 2 days in a row, all of the stores I've called around here have only received 64GB Verizon models if anything.

It REALLY sucks that I've got to wait 3 weeks for my white iPad to ship, but honestly at this point I think that's going to be shorter than trying to wait it out for one at the store.

I just wish I'd lined up at the Brea Mall store at like, 5AM. :/

I voted negative on this story. As I was hoping that Apple would concentrate on fixing the sticking scrollbars on the current Mighty Mouses, (or make it easier to open them and clean) before they just made it wireless.

Also, I'n not a big fan of using batteries in mice. Why not have a wireless mouse that is re-chargable? Or one that you can use wires with if the battery gets low?

well you could use rechargeable batteries.

For Mac users, why would we want to install Vista-(via BootCamp) and then also use it under virtualization?

What situation is there that you would want to run the same OS on the same box, one natively installed and one in virtualization?

Very confused about how this affects anyone?

This is why Android phones are creeping up on iOS...they are offering more features and constant innovation in the hardware. iPhone users (and I used to be one) only enjoy hardware innovation once a year.

Maybe we will see an LTE iPhone in 2012, maybe not but I can say with all the certainty in the world that Android will have kick ass dual core LTE phones with large screens and probably something retina like in resolution by then. I wouldn't be surprised to see 12 MP cameras, 2-3 MP front cameras all running Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Where? Not is Oz. the HTC Desire is the last android that actually seemed to be worth buying. The desire HD is okay, but not that good. (plus it doesn't come on the Telstra's stupid NextG network.)

Most android phones seem to get the reviews: could do better. As far as I can tell, virtually all are regarded at best as just sub-par to the iPhone 4, except the Desire which is even older.

It pains me as I'd prefer a OSS base over proprietary, and both the HTC Desire & iphone4 seem to be reaching the end of their cycle. Then there is the reluctance of networks to upgrade the software, and the strange lack of syncing with anything other than official supported systems. Possible, but just too hard with plenty of caveats.

Liberal banter = common sense and simple logic for the intelligent.... Too many people are so caught up in their lives that they forget the trauma of the past. History repeats itself and the market is like a roller coaster... remember the 1980's? Or even worse the 1930's.... Tech Stock is not going to hold. I am betting on Gold to hit at least 1500.00 in the next coming months and then upwards to the 2000.00 range.

I remember the Hunt brothers being pretty bullish on silver in the 80's.

Only cost them a few billion:eek:

The 3G iPod did not have physical feedback, and they worked.

They most certainly did have physical feedback. You had to touch them to activate the buttons or drag your finger across the scroll wheel to use it. This would constitute a tactile feedback, even if there is no click. What people are questioning is the usability of an interface where you don't have any tactile feedback. I think that the answer is that there would have to be visual feedback to replace it, thus the further issue that you couldn't simply use this iPod in your pocket or use it very safely while driving. However, if we consider that this is meant to be the video / ebook iPod, where you'll be staring at the screen anyway, this is much less of an issue.

But the problem here is everyone is assuming that none-touch means you don't even touch the iPod. Did it occur to anyone that it means you don't have to touch the screen? This allows Apple to put a more durable transparent cover over the entire face of the iPod.

Think about it - a nice smooth seamless iPod face. When you put your finger over the display, the controls appear. Your finger touches the cover, but not the screen underneath. This allows for easy cleaning, and protection of the actual screen.

What you're describing is far less revolutionary, and wouldn't really constitute a none-touch interface. The current displays all have a durable, transparent cover over them, and they still get scratches and finger prints from handling. I think the reason that this interface idea is so exciting is that it offers the possibility of having a full screen for viewing without needing to worry about the act of touching the screen for controls making the screen dirty so you can't watch.

It was possible to use the previous 27" as an external display for a MacBook. Can't see any mention of that after a brief scan, and it's a deal-breaker for me. Anyone spot such a feature?

I don't have a dog in this fight, but the question that runs through my mind is: if it's so easy, why do people struggle with it? Why are there entire industries built around people that struggle with losing weight on their own?

What a lot of people don't know, is that sugar is addictive. It goes the same for coffee and sigarettes. If you need coffee or sigarettes everyday to keep you going, that means you are addicted to caffeine or nicotine. If you are craving for sweets... that means your pancreas is having a hard time keeping your bloodsugarlevel in balance.

If you eat sugar, your bloodsugarlevel shoots up, and your pancreas reacts in a slow motion momentum by producing insuline to cope with that. So even when the sugar is already out of your blood, your pancreas is still producing insuline to cope with the enormous level of sugar earlier. As sugar is wearing out your pancreas, that slow motion momentum is becoming slower and slower over time.

...And that's when the addiction kicks in... as your insulinelevel is still sky high, due to the earlier high levels of sugar, that triggers some other system in your body to level out the insuline... and that is the need for sugar.

So all in all, your bloodsugarlevels & insuline are in a downwards spiral, triggering eachother...

A lot of people don't even know how depend they are on sugar, but you should really try it for yourself. Try not to eat any sugar (soda's, candy etc) for two weeks. You will probably start to notice that the first week you'll become aggrevated pretty easy... moodswings. You see the same with junkies trying to score.

The good part is that you will sleep better, lose weight, sweat less and overall will be a happier person, less depressed. AND you'll probably won't develope diabetes. Diabetes is a worn out pancreas. (there are different types of diabetes, i know but it all comes down to the balance of sugar & insuline in your blood)

Addicted to sugar comes with all the side-effects that addiction has: moodswings, denial of habit, cold turkey, aggression. But in the end, you will get & feel better, once you have accepted that you are controlled by sugar.

You do however need a little sugar for the transportation of oxygen in your blood, but a normal eating patern will provide plenty. Diabetes patients sometimes have to get some bodyparts amputated due to the lack of oxygen that the blood is not capable of transporting anymore to the very ends of the bloodvessels. (google some pictures diabetes+amputation that will make you reconsider your soda & candy addiction)

As for eating loads and loads of food: Your stomach is very flexible and can stretch a lot. Filling up your stomach every day, stretches it further and further. With that, the trigger from your stomach to your brain that says - I am full - slows down in the same rate. Getting the stomach back in the right proportion takes a few days.

If you eat heavily, you'll notice that the next day you get hungrier earlier than the day before. That is that stomach that is still stretched out, and that signal to your brain that hasn't arived yet because your stomach is stretched and thus not full. Everybody knows that after being sick for a few days, you won't eat as much as before. You start with something small. That means your stomach finally had the chance to get back in normal proportion.

The signal - full- from stomach to brain takes about 10~20 minutes. That time is the reason people overeat or feel bloated after a heavy dinner. You where stuffing yourself even when you where already full for the last 10~20 minutes of your meal.

Lastly, I'm kinda bummed that I haven't made the narration yet.:(

Be patient, your part is arriving. Just hope that the game doesn't end before it.

Me too. Given the theme i was already picturing myself as the marquee artist of the production ;)

You already had a small part, but I'm planning more. You where the thing with an animation of a bending robot drinking tea.

Osama is dead, so what? The U.S needed him alive.

Actually this works out great for our PR. When he was alive he was a very powerful image to conjure up support for the ongoing wars, a great emotional appeal. Now that he's dead he can be trotted as an example of how we are winning and need to stay the course regardless of facts, reasoning, or actual reasons for getting our military into the Middle East again.

So, is this like the "Normal" view in Word? I was just mentioning to a MS fan last week that I don't understand why they call it "normal" when it hasn't been "normal" in 20 years.

Books come in pages. Notes come in pages. When I print what I type, it prints on pages. Why would I not want to type in a page layout mode? It seems much more natural to me. The other mode just make me think of the old monochrome screened computers. Not very natural.

I greatly agree on wanting to see the return of the WYSIWYG Font Menu. I'd also like to see a side bar as well laid out as ClarisWorks' was. Speaking of which, can we have arcs back? And those other great gradient options we had in CW?

I know - I ask too much. I do love Pages, though. It's freed me from both Word and Pagemaker. :)

Yeah, my bad :D The cooling pad is loud but its not as loud as my first HP Pavilion laptop with a Pentium 4 desktop (yep, a desktop processor) processor in it. That thing had 3 fans running all the time.
